Madeline Hart

The Bayfield Pavilion is the site for Big June Moon, a benefit on June 15 for Bayfield resident Madeline Hart. Madeline recently had extensive surgery in Minneapolis for Stage 3 ovarian cancer. The medical treatment was not covered by insurance.
Big June Moon takes place on Wednesday, June 15, from 6 p.m. until 10ish. The benefit features live music, food and drink, a beer and wine cash bar, two auctions – silent and live – and a drawing for an iPad. There is a good will offering at the door.

It will be a full evening of music featuring Corey Carlson with Fido and the Love Dogs, Peaceful Women, Andy Noyes with Stevie Matier and Bruce Bowers, Heidi Howes, Markey Baby, and the Blue Canvas Orchestra. Have a pulled pork sandwich with some potato salad or coleslaw while you listen, or purchase tickets to the drawing for an iPad.  For those who can’t make the trip to Bayfield, you don’t have to be present to win. Tickets for the iPad drawing can be purchased at the Black Cat in Ashland, Stones Throw in Bayfield, Coco’s Bakery in Washburn, and Ehlers Store in Cornucopia.

The silent auction begins at 6 p.m. and the live auction begins at 8 p.m. with auctioneer Jerry Phillips at the helm. The donated items are varied: a painting by Mary Rice, blueberries from Highland Valley Farm, a 6-month pass to the Bayfield Recreation Center, and dinner for four at the Rittenhouse Inn. For live entertainment, StageNorth is donating the auction’s most valuable item – a year-long “Golden Ticket” entitling two people free entry to every play, concert, lecture, and band in the theater and the StageDoor Bar.

If you would rather stay home and keep warm under a nice blanket, you may want to bid on the quilt, “Eternal Star,” donated by Orchard’s Edge Quilting and A Common Thread Design.

Outdoor entertainment is represented by a five-hour evening sail from Cornucopia to the Sea Caves donated by Dreamcatcher Sailing and by a Sea Caves kayaking trip for two from Living Adventure. Or upgrade your bike with a complete overhaul, refurbishing, and new components from Bayfield Bike Route.

Auction items have been donated from all over the region: porcelain vases from the Melises in Port Wing, a Honda Rukus moped from Motion to Go on Madeline Island, one night’s lodging for up to 10 people at Tall Timbers Cabin Resort in Iron River, an original painting by Washburn’s Karlyn Holman, a lovely rug from Designers Outlet in Ashland, and a horse drawn carriage ride from Ken Raspotnik. More than 50 goods and services have been offered by individuals and businesses all over the Bay Area.

Come to the Bayfield Pavilion on June 15 from 6 p.m. until the last musician leaves. Enjoy spectacular shopping opportunities knowing that your money is going to a very good cause. If you would like to help Madeline Hart without attending Big June Moon, you can send donations to Bremer Bank, 31 West Bayfield Street in Washburn, c/o Madeline Hart benefit.
